Candice Chenault leads the music ministry at St. Andrew’s, directing the choir and helping the whole congregation find its voice. You do not need to read music or know the hymn to belong here. She will help you find the tune.
The patience and attentiveness she brings to the choir loft come honestly. By weekday, Candice is a special education teacher in the Alabaster City Schools, where she has spent more than a decade walking alongside children who learn differently, with a special heart for those who struggle to read. Trained in reading intervention and pursuing certification as a dyslexia specialist, she has built a career out of meeting people exactly where they are and helping them go further than they thought they could.
That is not so different from what good church music does. She earned both her Master of Education in special education and her undergraduate degree from the University of Montevallo. If you sing, or have always wanted to, the choir would love to have you. Candice will make room.
