Canterbury House

Safe, affordable housing for University of Montevallo students, right next door to the church.

St. Andrew’s began operating Canterbury House in the 1960s as a way of caring for University of Montevallo students who needed safe and affordable housing. More than half a century later, that work continues, quietly and faithfully, one student at a time.

Canterbury House sits right next door to the church, a short walk from campus, and residency is open to all. There are six private rooms, with each bathroom shared between two residents. Downstairs you will find a common room with a kitchen, living room, and dining area, plus a washer and dryer, and resident parking is provided. Rent is $500 a month and covers utilities, cable, and internet. It is a real home, not just a place to sleep between classes.

College is expensive and often uncertain, and a stable, affordable place to live can change everything for a student. That is the whole point. If you are a student looking for housing, or you know one who is, email Sally Smith at nanook665@aol.com with any questions or to ask about availability.

Looking for the campus ministry rather than a place to live? The Canterbury Student Fellowship gathers University of Montevallo students for friendship and faith, and all are welcome. To learn more, contact the Rev. Quincy Hall at standrewsrector35@outlook.com.
