St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

Service Times

One service, every Sunday, with room in the pew for you. Here is the shape of our week.

Some churches offer a menu of service times. We offer a table, set once, with great care. St. Andrew’s gathers for one service every Sunday, all of us together: students and retirees, lifelong Episcopalians and first-timers, the families and the folks who came alone. Here is how the morning unfolds.

Sundays at St. Andrew’s

  1. 10:30 a.m. Choir practice (the first and third Sundays, in the nave)
  2. 11:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite Two (every Sunday, from the Book of Common Prayer)
  3. 11:30 a.m. Children’s Chapel (some Sundays)
  4. 12:30 p.m. Snacks & Fellowship

The Holy Eucharist, Rite Two

Every Sunday at 11:30 a.m., we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, Rite Two, from the Book of Common Prayer. Eucharist is an old word for thanksgiving, and the service is exactly that: Scripture read aloud, a sermon, prayers for the church and the world, the peace passed hand to hand, and then bread and wine at the altar rail.

If you have been baptized in any Christian tradition, you are welcome to receive Communion here. If you have not been baptized, come to the rail anyway and cross your arms over your chest; you will receive a blessing, and the welcome is just as real. Curious about the rest? Here is what to expect on your first Sunday, and here is what an Episcopal church is, in plain language.

Before the service: choir practice

On the first and third Sundays, the choir gathers at 10:30 a.m. in the nave to rehearse before worship. You do not need to audition, read music, or own a robe. If you can carry a tune, or are willing to chase one, come sing with us.

During the service: children

Children worship with the adults at St. Andrew’s every week, fidgets and all. The sanctuary includes a play space for little ones, a sensory room is always available for anyone who needs a quieter spot, and on some Sundays a separate Children’s Chapel offers songs, crafts, prayer, and a child-sized version of the same liturgy. Read more about children and family here.

After the service: snacks and fellowship

Around 12:30 p.m., the service ends and the visiting begins. We linger over snacks while the kids head for the playground out back. If you are new, this is the easy part: someone will find you, learn your name, and make sure you know you are wanted back.

Holy days and special services

The church year keeps its own calendar, and some of its best days fall on weekdays: Ash Wednesday, the services of Holy Week, Christmas Eve. We announce each one on the calendar and events page as it approaches. If you are making plans around a holy day, contact us and we will gladly confirm the schedule.
